My Reading List – Updating Your Knowledge

I stopped speed reading. There is no point in reading as many books as possible. Instead, focus on a few and practice what you need to learn from them, and then take in new readings here and there.

Seneca’s Letters from a Stoic – Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Letters from a stoic is an ongoing reading to me. I read a chapter once or twice a week, for then to think about what I read and see where it can fit into my own life.

Seneca was a Roman Stoic philosopher and one of the great thinkers behind stoicism, a philosophy you indeed can use today in your life.

It is very much about living your life today, don’t wait for tomorrow because there might be no tomorrow.  Also, accept the things you cannot change only how you respond to them.

If you read books like 10X Rule by Grant Cardone. In the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey and Robert Greene, you will learn that many of their thinking derives from stoicism.

Unlimited Memory – Kevin Horsley

Where are my keys? Did I say that the other day?

There can be many varied reasons why you want to improve your memory!

Unlimited Memory will give you a couple of tools that you can use to improve it.

The 1-Page Marketing Plan – Allan Dib

The marketing you do for your business doesn’t have to be that complicated. In fact, according to Allan Dib, you can put it all down on one piece of paper and drive your prospects to potential customers.

SEO 2020 – Adam Clarke

If you want to get your site ranked on Google and other search engines, you need to optimize your website and other ranking factors.

Search engines like Google are making many changes to their algorithms, such as BERT, EAT, and others. If you, like me, are doing SEO for a living, it is important to keep updating your knowledge so that you can stay ahead of your game.

The Power of Onlyness – Nilofer Merchant

The Power of Onlyness is about how you can make your dent in the world and create the impact you want. Have your say, and influence people and followers without having the necessary credentials.

It is a terrific book to read if you want to create your own business, have your say, but see yourself as someone who stands out, thinking differently than others.

On The Shortness of Life – Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Seneca was a Roman Stoic philosopher who lived around 4 BC-AD 65 and was the author of Letters from a Stoic, which is a collection of 124 letters he wrote to his friend Lucilius on how to live your life well.

On the shortness of life follow the same track with the simple message saying:

“The message is simple: Life is long if you live it wisely. Don’t waste time worrying about how you look. Don’t be lazy. Don’t overindulge in entertainment and vice. Everything in moderation.”

Your life is short, so you better get started doing all your projects before it is too late. Don’t be lazy, you will regret it one day. Materialism and regular knowledge are a waste of time.

Elements of stoicism can, with great benefits, be put into your life, especially when you want to improve the quality of it and are on a mission.

If you want to learn more about Stoicism and how you can use it in your life, I highly recommend you check this Tim Ferris video, where he explains Stoicism quite well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0XxceO4qX0

The 10X Rules – Grant Gardone – Second Time Reading

It teaches you to go for your goals 10X, expect resistance 10X, and expect things to be harder 10X.

I was quite fascinated by Grant Cardone in the era of being a high performer. However, now here in the post-pandemic era, I’m more into being a high performer in a work-life balance setting. This is not the balance that Grant Cardone is about.

The Richest Man in Babylon – George S.Clason

Learn the universal laws of prosperity invented by the Babylonians, who at that time were the richest nation in the world.

Rich Dad Poor Dad draws a lot of lines to the Richest Man in Babylon, which teaches a simplified way of saving, investing, and paying off debts.

Rich Dad Poor Dad – Robert T. Kiyosaki

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a must-read for everyone who wants to be in control of their own finances and not be dependent on a paycheck.

It teaches the basics of how to make your money grow and work for you. If you, like me, feel you lack education in handling money, Rich Dad Poor Dad is highly recommended.

Launch – By Jeff Walker

This is the book I am currently reading. It basically gives you a business model that you can use straight of the box on your next project. The good thing is that it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune to set up.

The Laws of Human Nature by Robert Greene

This book was a long one. A lot to digest, and it ended up taking a bit longer to read than expected. But it was all worth it, especially if you want to learn more about the basics of human behavior and why we humans act the way we do.

The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

For sure, the Alchemist was a delightful read, and no wonder personalities like Bill Clinton and Madonna Loved it. But for me, Being Danish, who grew up with Hans Christian Andersen and his fairytales, there were not a lot of surprises in the Alchemist.

Mastery by Robert Greene

Robert Greene is coming out with a new book Oct 23. 2018 named the Laws of Human Nature. To get myself into Robert Green mode I have started to read His book from 2012, called Mastery.

If you truly want to become a master in your field, it is highly recommended you take a closer look at this one. So far, I am really enjoying reading it and I am learning a lot.
